Basic German for young learners
WIR is the new course from Klett Edition Deutsch for young people learning German as a foreign language. With WIR, young people from 12 years and upwards learn how to communicate in German on topics that are relevant to their world, while also developing a broad understanding of the German language.
In three volumes, each of which contains a course book, a workbook, audio material and a teachers book, the young students are led up to the level of the European Reference Framework A1, A2 and B1, and can prepare themselves with the third volume for the Zertifikat Deutsch examination.
The four-coloured course books have a modular structure and contain 3-4 modules per volume. There are several lessons in each module and the modules have recurring sections: The learning goals are listed on the first page of each module. The lessons are structured very clearly. The material is taught in small steps and recurring sections. In the Wir Trainieren ... section, the skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking are practised. Each module contains a systematic visualisation of the grammar learned. The students discover and formulate the grammatical rules themselves. There are also special exercises for applying the discovered grammar, and the solutions to the exercises. The final test Teste dein Deutsch enables the students to monitor their progress.
The course books are complemented by workbooks with numerous additional exercises and the vocabulary from the lessons. The teachers books will be put on the Web, module for module, and may be offered later in a print volume as well.
